Pet of the Month:
Crumpet

Crumpet
first came to Sunderland Animal Hospital as a 7-month-old puppy
in 2007. On subsequent annual visits her weight increased, to
the point of being severely overweight. She reached her peak
weight of 70 pounds in early 2009. Crumpet's family became
concerned that her weight did not seem to be decreasing despite
their efforts. Regardless of Crumpet’s weight it never slowed
her down, always coming to the office as a happy and bouncy dog.
With a little exercise, love and a very strict diet, Crumpet has
lost over half of her body weight! Dogs kept at a lean, healthy
body condition throughout their lives have an average lifespan
almost 2 years longer than overweight dogs. A lean and healthy
body weight not only improves your pet’s daily quality of life,
but helps prevents arthritis and other diseases. Thanks to
Crumpet’s owners, Sharon and Jonathan, today Crumpet is a happy,
energetic, and a very healthy basset hound. |
